The mental health of employees a core pillar of organisational resilience. People’s mental health and ability to take individual and collective action are imperative for enterprises and societies to function during challenging times and crises.
Even before the pandemic and the war in Ukraine, half of EU workers considered stress to be common in their workplace, and it contributed to around half of all lost working days. Organisational and social challenges in the workplaces threaten the stability of our enterprises and workforce.
MentalHealthMatters empowered employers and workplace leaders to address organisational and social workplace challenges head-on, while paving the way for sustainable. It also bridged the health, labour and education sectors to foster sustainable, system-level changes through national and transnational cooperation.
Key achievements:
Policy consensus: Unified cross-sectoral stakeholders to define future policy options and shared goals.
Needed improvements: Conducted an audit of national regulations, available data, and current educational standards to identify needed improvements at the national level.
Regional overview: Compiled a comparable overview of national definitions, legislations, and guidance for managing the psychosocial work environment across the Baltic Sea Region countries.

As a part of the project, we also created an online First-Aid Kit for Mental Health specifically targeted at small and medium-sized enterprises. It’s a curated collection of practical, evidence-based tools to help managers and employers address common psychosocial challenges in their workplaces.
